PR and marketing communications content for businesses, public sector bodies and not-for-profit organisations across the UK education sector.

Services

Tailored PR Programmes

PR is a highly effective way of getting your organisation in front of the people who need to know about your services.

But it’s not easy.

It requires a deep understanding of what makes a story and careful management of how you tell that story to the media and other key audiences.

By understanding your organisation and objectives I can help you build a presence that generates profile and truly complements your marketing, advertising and events strategy.

Content Development

The way you describe your organisation & services on your website, in marketing materials, publications and e-communications creates an impression on your target audiences.

But does it create the right one?

Badly written and structured content that misses the point or is littered with jargon will turn off the people you need to reach.

They won’t get your message.

I research, write and edit compelling, crafted content that helps you come across clearly and effectively.

About Nick Bannister

Since establishing the business in 2012 I’ve worked with a wide range of education sector organisations, including professional associations, learning programme and curriculum providers, major national education charities, the Department for Education, education sector magazine publishers and educational services companies.

I have a deep knowledge of the UK education sector. I spent almost a decade in senior corporate communications and media relations roles at the National College for School Leadership, the government-funded agency charged with developing leadership standards in England’s state schools.

Accolades for my work include the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) UK Excellence Award for the National College’s ldr magazine, which I edited for over five years, plus a cluster of other national and regional awards.

I have more than 30 years’ experience in media relations, editorial management and journalism, including six years providing PR consultancy to UK and US businesses in the IT, manufacturing, logistics and food sectors.

I began my media career as a local newspaper reporter in the late 1980s and have a National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) qualification in newspaper journalism. I’m a member of the Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA).

Testimonials

In sourcing, writing and editing content for ATL’s annual report, Nick brought a high degree of professional competency and sector knowledge, meeting tight deadlines with a proactive approach. He quickly grasped the task in hand and delivered a thorough, reliable service.

Victoria Barlow, Assistant General Secretary (Communications), National Education Union

Nick was recommended to me for our 24th anniversary event at the centre and he exceeded our expectations. Nick is empathetic, an excellent communicator, reliable, thorough and managed to get us coverage on BBC and ITV news and the Jewish News and Jewish Chronicle. We also gleaned coverage in the local press. I would recommend Nick to anyone wishing to raise the profile of their organisation.

Sophie Farrell, National Holocaust Centre and Museum

Nick can take a rag tag bunch of information and garbled thoughts and turn them into something beautiful. He’s written a number of pieces for us now and they’ve appeared in the TES, SEN publications and Education Investor amongst others.

Tim McShane, Fluffy Clouds Education Marketing

Nick has worked with Achievement for All in support of a number of projects including recently the launch of our Ambassador Head Teachers and a project raising awareness of the importance of increasing parental engagement in children’s education. He successfully placed and wrote a wide range of features, interviews, columns and case studies in national, education, union, and professional print and online media, raising the profile of the work of schools working with Achievement for All and the positive impact it has on vulnerable and disadvantaged children across the country.

Lindsaye Fox, Achievement for All 3As

We have worked with Nick for over three years now. He has helped us not only to achieve wider coverage but has also provided guidance and challenge in the areas we needed it. A thorough professional, well connected in the publishing world and a great sounding board.

Keith Wright, Bluewave Education

Nick is fantastic. In addition to being a respected thought-leader and one of the most credible people in the education comms sector – he is modest, considered and a genuinely nice person to work with. Nick’s passion for achieving first class editorial content is what really sets him apart from others. I would recommend him as a professional who really seeks to understand by carefully listening and asking the right questions.

Leah Burgess, Words & Pictures

Nick has developed a series of case studies for NCTL to promote the Specialist Leaders of Education (SLE) programme. He has an ability to understand and explore the subject areas in detail and captures his research in an easy to read style. A number of his case studies are published on GOV.uk and these have attracted significant interest.

Scott Caine, National College for Teaching and Leadership

Nick is an outstanding, intelligent copywriter whose skills match or exceed any good broadsheet columnist or feature writer. A great colleague; calm, supportive and extremely well informed. I highly recommend Nick to anyone needing high quality editorial.

Ruth Coulthard, Children’s Food Trust
